Come Play With Me (2021)
The piece includes four individual monoprints, each a slight variation of the one produced on the left. I used combination of hand-carved woodcut blocks (the car), laser-cut blocks (the wheels), and hand-cut stencils. The phrase “Big Car Girl” is a play on the phrase “Big Car Guy.” In changing the phrasing and combining a traditionally masculine image of the vintage car with stereotypically female colors, the print plays with ideas of masculine and feminine, making them interrelated as opposed to antithetical to each other.
